Better captures make sharper line art. Follow these device-specific settings before uploading.
iPhone (12, 13, 14, 15 — Pro & non-Pro)
Format
- ProRAW (if available) — best for quality analysis
- HEIF (default) if ProRAW unavailable
- JPEG is also accepted
- Avoid Live Photo, HDR
Resolution
- 48 MP (Pro models)
- Non-Pro: fixed 12 MP (acceptable)
Camera Mode
- Photo mode (NOT Portrait, NOT Night, NOT Live)
Exposure
- Tap the print sample → slide down slightly to avoid blown highlights
Focus
- Tap the text area → hold → AF Lock
Stabilization
- Use a stand or rest elbows on table
- Turn off Lens Correction (optional)
Lighting
- Bright, even, diffuse light
- No overhead glare, no shadows
Why these settings matter
RAW = real sensor data
No sharpening, noise reduction, edge smoothing, or color manipulation. Perfect for raggedness, mottle, grain, drop circularity, density evaluation, and color accuracy.
High resolution = more detail
48 MP / 50 MP / 108 MP captures micro-artifacts essential for small text clarity and edge transitions.
No HDR = no artificial blending
HDR destroys edge quality, density accuracy, mottle visibility, and drop shape integrity.
Manual focus = crisp edges
Auto-focus often grabs the paper surface, not the ink edge.
